Turkey Week

We just returned from a week of Thanksgiving fun. The week was full of so many things to be thankful for--from Oliver's big smile and giggles, to Samuel's silly personality but the biggest being family! Kevin took the entire week of Thanksgiving off and I was able to work a few hours from our various locations so we had almost 8 days away from home. Here is a rundown of our trip--

  • Playing in the snow
  • Celebrating Grandpa's 64th
  • Making cake with frosting
  • Scheel's Sporting Good Store & the giant ferris wheel (of which Samuel refused to ride)
  • M&D getting out for a little gambling!






After Reno we endured a 6 hour car trip from Reno to Oakhurst. The boys slept for a little more than 2 hours (another thing to be thankful for!) but we still had 4 more houra to entertain. In between answering Samuel's endless "why?" questions, we sang songs, played I spy, and created some new spelling games.


We spent 4 days in Oakhurst with G&G Badgett, cousin Anna, cousin Gilman, and Auntie Jennifer. This year we had a new addition to the mix: Josh (auntie Jennifer's SO).


Highlights from the week:
  • Thanksgiving dinner at Tenya complete with Santa Cruz as Samuel calls him.
  • Best line of the weekend--when asked by Santa what he wants for Christmas, Samuel turns to me and says, "why is he talking so loud? Can you tell him to stop talking?" Guess Samuel won't be getting any presents this year!
  • Oreo turkey making
  • Thanksgiving Bingo (Anna won almost every game)
  • Treasure Hunt--yummy chocolates & gum waiting at the end
  • The Badgett park--Oliver swings for the first time
  • Riding the moldy waffle






After the Badgett Thanksgiving, we traveled to the cabin at Bass Lake--a mere 20 minute drive. There we celebrated Turkey day with G&G Claassen and Great Grandma & Great Grandpa Harvin.

Highlights:

  • Yummy Turkey dinner


  • Tree lighting and parade of lights (which we watched from afar due to Samuel's dislike of a dog costume)
  • A long walk with G&G complete with cake at the cafe and gummy bears from the store!
  • Catching candy from the parade
