Summer is Close

The past few weeks have been fabulous. There are so many signs that summer is on its way...longer days, warm weather, being outside all the time, yummy fruits at the farmers market, and less sickness!

We packed a lot into last weekend. We woke up early Saturday morning to finish the last bit of the play structure remodel. OK, so it is actually nowhere near the last bit (we still have to sand and stain the entire thing and rebuild a section) but we did finish covering up the dirt with some grass. Samuel was a big help keeping the newly planted grass wet--he spent a lot of time watering!

We also planted our garden. It is a pretty small garden but fun to grow something. We put in several kinds of tomatoes, red and green bell peppers, and some jalepeno. We will also do some potted herbs. Samuel planted some of it although he really doesn't like to get his hands dirty.

On Sunday we continued our quest to relax, enjoy, and explore the bay area more. After church we headed north to Muir Woods. Muir Woods is a national monument with an amazing redwood forest. There is a nice trail through a large grove of beautiful redwood trees. As Samuel said, "wow, those trees are really tall". We spent several hours meandering, searching for banana slugs, and watching the stream.

Samuel and Oliver have been loving watermelon these days. We ate 2 huge watermelons in about 3 days. During one meal it was the ONLY thing Oliver would put in his mouth--and, in true Oliver fashion, he had to do it himself.
