G&G Claassen
Grandma and Grandpa Claassen came over and picked Samuel up from school. He had a holiday the next day and spent the day partying with them! We enjoyed a dinner out and then cake #1.
Friends Rock Climbing
For the first time Samuel got to select a venue to have his birthday party. We usually do the park but due to concerns about weather we opted for an inside location. Samuel decided to take his friends rock climbing. We had such fun watching everyone learn to climb, gain confidence and eventually make it to the top! We enjoyed lunch and cake #2 (the cupcake variety).
Badgett celebration
The Badgett crowd went to Playland-Not-At-The-Beach for a day of fun. We played lots of carnival games and pinball. We then back to Ostrander house for some trampoline fun and cake #3! We all went out to dinner at El Charro, Samuel's favorite restaurant. The day was topped off with a sleep-over with cousins! Sadly, no photos were taken.
Samuel at Six
Samuel has exploded with reading and writing. He has a genuine passion for learning and has been enjoying the additional challenge of Spanish. Often times Samuel can be found in his room writing stories, poems or reading from books.
Samuel's favorite books are fact-based books. He loves to read books with maps, science facts, encyclopedia-type books and record-setting books.
Seems to be fairly content with a lot of different types of friends. He doesn't have a solid, tight group of friends at school. Rather, he seems to move amongst many groups. The girls are especially fond of Samuel and always greet him in the morning and wave good-bye in the afternoon!
Is very crafty! Samuel has a box of craft items and is constantly taking things out of the recycle bin to exercise his creative energy. He took all his birthday money to the craft store and was in heaven!
Is an amazing big brother to Oliver. While he has the ability to get under Oliver's skin, Samuel is patient and loving when playing with his brother.
Is a rule follower to the max! Samuel never does anything outside the rules and is careful to make sure others follow the rules. The hardest lesson recently is figuring out what rules are absolute and which are OK to not follow to a T!
Must PROCESS EVERYTHING for hours. When he gets in trouble or there is some injustice done to him it takes a long time for him to get over it. He generally shuts down at first and then he wants to talk, and talk, and talk about the situation. He tells us his side of the story, hears our side of the story and when we suggest moving on he is generally not ready! It is exhausting when this happens close to bedtime as he cannot sleep until the situation has been well processed.
Are very cuddly still! I love that he still holds my hand walking to school, that he likes to sit on my lap to watch tv and that he insists on getting his back rubbed before bed.
