Monday (Mommy Day)
Jennette stays home with the boys while Kevin goes to work. We enjoy outings to museums, parks, the zoo and other fun things the bay area offers. While we try to always at least one fun activity during the day we do also use the day for errands, grocery shopping, doctors appointments and other necessities. I really enjoy having this day and the fact the kids wake up and yell "its mommy day!"
Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday (School Days)
Jennette and Kevin both work so the kids go to preschool. This year they are at the same preschool which makes drop off and pick up delightful! One of us usually leaves the house around 8:00 and goes straight to work. The other leaves closer to 8:15 or 8:30 and takes the boys to school. The one who went straight to work then picks up the kids. We try to pick up the boys by 5pm which is a pretty long day for them. However, occasionally I will leave early and pick them up closer to 4:30. This is usually met with protests and I spend 30 minutes watching the boys play at school. The boys really enjoy being together at the same school. Bernice and Joe's Playschool (BJs) uses a multi-age approach so they spend most of their day with open play between all 24 kids ages 2 thru 5. They each have two 20-minute circle times where they are split into age groups but generally they play together. Samuel is a very sweet older brother and includes Oliver in his activities.
Friday (Daddy Day)
Kevin is home with the boys Friday while Jennette goes to work. The boys day is similar to mommy day only with more stops at the donut store! Kevin tries to go on one major outing during the day while also trying to do things like laundry and dishes.
Saturday & Sunday (Family Day)
Saturday and Sunday we find ourselves doing a big variety of activities. We spend some time doing basic household chores (although the dust bunnies might indicate we could focus a little more time on this activity!). We usually do fun things like ride bikes, play in the backyard, go to the park or just hang out at home. Sunday we go to church which is much more enjoyable now that the boys go to childcare and participate in Sunday School after church. Now that Oliver can skip nap we are excited to resume our Sunday afternoon bay area exploration.
Other Routine Things to Remember:
- Kevin works at NonProfit Suite as the Senior Accountant
- Jennette works at Playworks as Director of Evaluation
- Our offices are across the street from each other at Jack London Square. We enjoy lunch together often while sitting at the marina looking across the bay at SF
- We attempt to exercise regularly--Kevin swims 3 days a week and Jennette walks in the morning with friends in the neighbhorhood or swims
- Co-op is every Tuesday night. We rotate houses and enjoy getting together with the FMCSF community
- We have no regular babysitter but manage to get multiple nights out thanks to grandparents, Aunt Jennifer and Anna
