Oliver is now 8 months old!
Food
We've been making progress with solid food although he seems to still think eating is optional. Occasionally we can get a cube or two of food in him but generally he putters out after 5-6 bites. He does have two things he eats with passion: tofu dusted with graham crackers and yogurt. I cut up some tofu one day and tossed it with some crushed graham crackers. He went to town! Not sure if it was the texture or the self-feeding he enjoyed but it was a hit. The drag is that it is a complete mess--it was everywhere (in his hair, ears, nose, on the floor, etc).
On the Move
Oliver currently has a hybrid crawl/scoot going on. He can get pretty much anywhere he wants in a fairly quick manner. In an upright sitting position, he tucks one leg under him and the other he stretches out and uses to pull himself forward. Sometimes he'll be slightly bent and use his hands to aid in the speed. His best move is going in circles. He can spin a 360 in rapid speed. He is showing signs of wanting to pull himself up.When he gets close to a chair he will often try to pull up. Unfortunately this always ends with him banging his head on the floor.
Other interesting facts:
- He has no sign of any teeth! We get to enjoy our toothless grinner for awhile longer
- There are growing signs of seperation anxiety & stranger awareness. For the most part he is still pretty laid back but he notices when I leave the room and looks at new people with a questioning look.
- Loves to unload and load things. He can be entertained for a long time when we put his toy box in front of him. He will sit and take all the toys out. Once they are strewn about, he tries to put them back in the box.
- Enjoys banging toys on the wall. He will scoot himself to the wall and then proceed to hit his toys against it. He will laugh and laugh when it falls to the floor.
- Zerberts...Oliver has discovered he can blow air through closed lips and it makes a funny noise. This is quite cute to watch and listen to.
- Squeels with delight when a ball is thrown his general direction. The loudest laughs come when Samuel throws the ball (or any object) and hits him in the stomach. As always, the harder Samuel throws it the funnier it is to Oliver.
